It is the highest accolade which can be won at this event
The extra virgin olive oil Les Cabanes, of the Sant Isidre de Juncosa Farm Cooperative, has won the prize for best oil in the single-variety class at the 9th edition of the JOOP Japan Olive Oil Prize 2021. It represents the highest accolade which can be won at this event.
The JOOP 2021 awards have been granted through a decimal system based on points between 8 (minimum) and 10 (maximum) in the following way: from 9.50 to 10 points, best in class, from 9 to 9.45 points, gold medal and from 8 to 8.99 points, silver medal.
The JOOP is an international competition designed to promote extra virgin olive oils from different countries and origins in Japan. It gives producers the opportunity to boost their brand recognition in international markets, particularly in Japan, the Asian country where the demand for high quality extra virgin olive oil is growing fastest.
Les Cabanes oil has already received 19 awards, including this one, in the last three years. Some days ago, as well, it was recognised at the Foods of Spain Prize: Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils, 2020-2021 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food and won the Mario Solinas award from the International Olive Council (IOC).
