The oil Les Cabanes from Juncosa, in the Michelin Guide of olive oils

The extra virgin olive oil Les Cabanes from the Sant Isidre de Juncosa Farming Cooperative has made it into the ESAO Guide, published by the Superior School of Olive Oil (ESAO), which includes the best extra virgin olive oils from around the world and the ones given ESAO Stars at the ESAO Awards, an analogy to the Michelin Stars but in the world of oil. Last Friday in Valencia, just about a week ago, the Juncosa Cooperative collected a “star” at the ESAO Awards.

The inclusion in this guide has come thanks to the accolades obtained this year from the Mario Solinas International Oil Board (COI) and the Ministry of Agriculture’s Foods of Spain Prize: Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils, 2020-2021 season, apart from the ESAO Star, the contests which the organisation considers most important within the sector. In the guide, it bears noting that the oil Les Cabanes is found in the ESAO Stars section, which lists the oils awarded at more than one of the aforementioned contests.

As for the new prize, the Star from the ESAO Awards, it is a new milestone achieved by the Juncosa Cooperative at a contest which defends the need to publicise the quality of extra virgin olive oil to encourage its consumption. In addition, it joins the 7 international accolades already won this year, honours which attest to the quality of the extra virgin olive oil Les Cabanes.

The Cooperative’s president, Albert Guiu, and Antonio Dalmau, a member of the Board, were tasked with collecting this new prize at a ceremony held in the emblematic Veles e Vents building in Valencia.

The Sant Isidre de Juncosa Farming Cooperative was founded in 1919 by a group of farmers willing to join forces and work together to safeguard their interests and commercialise oil collectively. Today, with more than 100 years of history, it is dedicated to the production and sale of extra virgin olive oil with the PDO Les Garrigues seal.
